The Photographer
Geoffrey Peckham, (b. 1958) is a photographer originally from Duluth, Minnesota, raised in Madison, WI and now residing in northwest Michigan and Tucson, AZ. His photographic work is known for its emotive portrayal of modern culture. He studied aesthetics, literature, and art history at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and as a visiting student at Cambridge and Oxford Universities. Peckham utilizes his passion for the photographic medium and extensive experience in the prepress and printing industries to develop work that is both original and contributes to photography’s documentary tradition.
Peckham's work is deeply rooted in the themes of modernist literature. Over the past several years he has used a camera to capture various aspects of contemporary culture that point towards our broader human experience. His images of specific locations, objects, and individuals deeply connect with audiences, drawing out memories related to love, innocence, sorrow, joy, death, and the perception of beauty.
Geoffrey Peckham’s work is included in numerous private and public collections. In addition to his photographic endeavors, Peckham is the founder and director of the Tusen Takk Foundation, an artist residency program that provides a time and place for artists, writers, and composers to engage in creative work that enriches global culture.
